Comparison

A splitforms alternative with a free tier that resets every month

splitforms and WebForms are close relatives: both are endpoint form backends with similar entry prices. They differ on the free tier, the spam filter, delivery visibility and where data lives, and several of those differences favour splitforms.

Start freeSee pricing

splitforms is a hosted form backend, and a capable one. A form posts to its endpoint with an access key in a hidden field, and each submission is stored before any notification is sent, searchable in a dashboard and kept until you delete it, on every plan. Paid plans add signed webhooks, Google Sheets, Notion, Airtable and Zapier, auto-replies, file uploads, sending through your own SMTP server and Stripe payments in the form.

The two differ in a few specific places. The splitforms free plan is 500 submissions in total, a one-time allowance that does not refill; ours is 300 a month and resets. Its spam filtering is rule-based: a honeypot, a time trap, per-IP rate limits and content scoring. Its webhooks are retried once, after about two seconds, and the dashboard shows each webhook's final status. And EU data residency is on its roadmap rather than in place.

WebForms runs an AI classifier that reads the message on every plan, free included, alongside a honeypot, a time trap and rate limits. Every delivery attempt to every destination, email included, is logged with its status and response, and webhooks and chat apps retry with backoff. Submissions are stored on servers in Germany. Where splitforms is ahead, the next section says so.

When to stay with splitforms

Switching has a real cost. These are the cases where we would not bother.

Moving from splitforms

  1. Export what you want to keep

splitforms keeps your history, but CSV export is a paid feature there, so export before you downgrade or cancel anything. WebForms does not import another service's history.

  2. Create a form and copy the endpoint

Sign up, add one form per splitforms form, and copy each endpoint URL.

  3. Swap the action and rename the reserved fields

Point the action at your endpoint and delete the access_key input. Their botcheck honeypot becomes _gotcha, redirect becomes _redirect, subject becomes _subject and replyto becomes _replyto. splitforms also takes Reply-To from an email field automatically; WebForms only reads it from _replyto.

  4. Rebuild destinations, then compare

Add your email recipients and any Slack, Discord, Telegram or webhook destinations, send one real submission, and check the delivery log before you switch every form.

Try it without deciding anything

The free plan includes 300 submissions a month, unlimited forms, email delivery, stored submissions and spam filtering, with no card required and no expiry. Point one form at it and keep splitforms running on the others until you are convinced.

Questions

It depends on the billing period. As listed on 24 October 2026, splitforms Pro was $5 a month for 5,000 submissions and Annual $49 a year for 15,000 a month. WebForms Pro is $5 a month or $49 a year for 12,000 a month, so monthly billing favours WebForms on volume and yearly billing favours splitforms. The free plans differ in shape: theirs is 500 submissions once, ours 300 every month.
